CONSTRUCTION of a new Aldi supermarket at the $120 million Norwood Green development on Magill Rd is under way. Earthworks for the supermarket are in progress, with Sarah Constructions expected to commence building works at the site today. Meanwhile, almost all of the first stage release of townhouses at the residential and retail precinct have been sold, with particular interest in a range of two and three-bedroom homes, pictured. Norwood Green project director Daniel De Conno said apartment sales were also progressing well, with significant interest from the downsizer market. “Norwood Green is attracting people who currently live in the Norwood area, and those in surrounding suburbs, who are seeking a city-fringe lifestyle offering with the benefits of a master-planned precinct,” he said. “Our purchasers are excited to see the progress of the Aldi supermarket, which will be a shopping destination right at their doorstep and will complement the range of retail shops that will fringe the apartment buildings at street level.” Norwood Green is a joint project between Aldi and local developers Buildtec and Catcorp. The Aldi supermarket is expected to open in the second quarter of next year.
